Our friends over at Spexarth Design have been hard at work once again, this time remodeling a simple, outdated kitchen to a dazzling white masterpiece!
Before the remodel, this country kitchen featured plain wood cabinets, a basic tile back-splash, laminate counter tops, floral wall paper, and a small island. The transformation in this space is absolutely stunning, and the new kitchen layout boasts some fun and functional new features. Let’s explore the changes made throughout the kitchen, and gain some inspiration for your next kitchen remodel project!
Custom Woodwork
Almost every single piece of wood in this room was handcrafted for the space. The new kitchen features all white upper and lower cabinets, new hardwood flooring, a custom built range over the cook top, a custom island with seating, and many intricate wood details that help to add character throughout the kitchen! The white shade of the cabinets really helps to open up and brighten up the room, making the space feel much larger than it did in the old kitchen. The custom vent hood works as a wonderful focal point, drawing the eye upward and adding height to the room. Other wood embellishments like the spindle legs found on the kitchen island, and on either side of the range between cabinets, bring the decor together with a classic country feel.
New Counters
Another feature which helps to make a statement in this kitchen is the new granite counter top, accented by several other stone elements throughout the room, including the tiled backspalsh, and tiled inset above the cook top. Deciding on kitchen counter tops can often be difficult with so many color choices and material options to choose from. But the white granite works particularly well in this space, complimented by the shades of off-white and grey selected for the backsplash. The homeowners also decided to add a bit of unique style with the decorative accent tile was above the cook top, featuring similar colors in a bolder pattern, helping to tie the separate elements together.
Unique Features
Beyond the stunning design and timeless style of this room, there are a few “secret” items in this kitchen that we find quite interesting! First there is the utensil house. This convenient compartment is located to the right of the cook top, and easily stores all the wood spoons, spatulas, etc., in one convenient location. No more digging through deep cabinets, or rummaging through messy drawers to find what you are looking for!
Another interesting feature in this kitchen is the standing mixer cabinet built to house a full-size KitchenAid mixer and its accessories. What makes this cabinet particularly practical is the pull out butcher block, which allows the mixer to slide in and out of the cabinet with ease. This helps to reduce the risk of damaging the granite counter-tops, while also making clean-up a breeze! Spexarth designers also made sure to hide electrical outlets on the under side of the cabinets so cords can be tucked almost completely out of sight, leaving the backsplash looking nice and neat.
LED Under Cabinet Lighting
The finishing touch for Spexarth’s latest kitchen remodel was, of course, Inspired LED under cabinet lighting! It comes as no surprise that this is one of our favorite features of any new kitchen, but the results here are particularly spectacular. The flexible led strips installed under the cabinets provide the perfect amount of task lighting needed for reading recipes and preparing fabulous meals. And the pure white color selected for the LEDs helps to highlight the contrasting colors of the backsplash. The folks at Spexarth Design even went as far as to add a bit of accent light above the cook-top, as well as beneath the decorative range to showcase the design features in this area. A nice touch!
We are always honored to have our lights showcased alongside such displays of dedicated craftsmanship, and we think the results of this project speak for themselves!
